As the digital world grows, so do the opportunities. Although there are plenty of paid applications and websites that provide exciting resources for children, there are also a number of free resources around the World Wide Web that offer free virtual trips around the world. This opportunity allows children to explore environments and locations they perhaps will never see in real life - and with new experiences, come new writing opportunities. Here are 5 of the best!

Great Hammer Head Shark Encounter!

This 360 video works perfectly on an iPad or using a Virtual Reality Headset if you have the finances. Dive into this 360° video and go face to face with a curious great hammerhead shark. The children get to experience one of the scariest and most interesting creatures on planet earth! Fantastic for some descriptive writing!

Mega Coaster!

Strap in for the ride of a lifetime on a twisting steel behemoth of fun. This scream machine will push you into the back of your seat over 4,000 feet of track, with a half dozen inversions and speeds topping out over 60 miles an hour. This ride will feel more real than ever, save for the part where you have to wait in line.

Wing Suit Flight!

Organised in collaboration with XDubai and Skydive Dubai , this thrilling wing suit flight over the coastline of Dubai gives you an aerial view of the Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Marina. As the skydiver soars through the air, enjoy a breathtakingly different perspective of the city's skyscrapers and waterfront before soaring past the skyscrapers to land in a car park!

Pac-Man in 360!

I think this is by far the coolest virtual reality video out there! This video gives you the opportunity to experience what it might be like to be a computer game character. Your children can experience life as Pac-man. A great experience for creative writing in imaginary worlds!

Visit Egypt!

There are hundreds of 360 videos taken from across the world. This gives the children to gain a geographical travel experience without ever having to leave the classroom! These are great for non-fiction writing and go great with a travel brochure topic!
